The Town Historian maintains archival records such as diaries, old minutes of local organizations, cemetery records, photographs, genealogies and scrapbooks dating back to the early 1900’s.

Our past Historian, Isabella Brayton, in collaboration with John B. Norton, in 1929 compiled the Town’s History in a book, The Story of Hartford-A History. A copy of this book can be obtained from either the Historian or the Town Clerk at a cost of $35.00. If it is to be mailed, please add $6 for postal costs and make check out to Hartford Historical Group.

Also available for sale is Hartford, New York – A Pictorial History which was published in 1976 by the Hartford Bicentennial Committee at a cost of $5.00.

All proceeds from the sale of these books goes to the Hartford Historical Group.
